I’m really excited to be going to Glasslands on Wednesday for the Idiot Glee album release show. Not only do I think that Paddywhack is quite good after a few listens (more on this later, but find my friend A.C.’s thoughts here), but there’s also a really great supporting cast for this show. The very excellent Seapony [Hardly Art/Sub Pop] is on the bill, but I’ve really been enjoying listening to songs from openers Holiday Shores and the House Floor.
I love finding a new band and discovering that they’re giving away an album for free. I just think it’s an amazingly savvy way to get the word out, especially in a saturated market with so many bands. It helps, of course, when the album is really good. I can definitely say that about The House Floor’s Warship, which you can stream at their Bandcamp and download for free here. Please donate if you like it.
The House Floor is a quartet that lives in Brooklyn, though I’m pretty sure they came from Virginia, where Warship was recorded. They play first on Wednesday, and I’d recommend getting out early to check them out.
Doors are at 8pm and tickets are $10 in advance. Buy tickets here.
Glasslands is located at 289 Kent Ave. in Brooklyn, NY.
