Widowspeak Album Stream and Touring with Vivian Girls

Thanks to Altered Zones, you can now stream the debut album from Brooklyn trio Widowspeak. The album was released earlier this month on Captured Tracks.

The relatively new trio has gotten good marks for this effort, and I tend to agree. It’s a classic sounding record. AZ’s Jenn Pelly calls Widowspeak a “collection of smoky pop melodies,” while praising the band for its sparseness, subtlety and restraint.

The band will soon embark on a tour with Vivian Girls. The tour culminates with Widowspeak’s next planned New York City tour September 20 at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn. Full tour dates after the jump.
