Spotify Presents: Oberhofer, Exitmusic

Since bringing Spotify to the United States, the service has been teaming up with the Mercury Lounge to bring some pretty great free shows to the Lower East Side. Tomorrow night is no exception.

Recent Secretly Canadian signees Exitmusic anchor the evening. The Brooklyn duo have been making themselves known lately, most recently with a summer residency at Pianos. The four-track EP, entitled From Silence, comes out October 4. I’ve barely heard anything the band has done yet – below, you can stream “The Sea” and watch the video for “The Hours” (Stereogum premier). “The Sea” is deliberately layered, lush, and exhilarating. I can only hope the whole EP is this good.

Also make sure to stay for headliners Oberhofer, a raucous indie rock act that reminds me of Oxford Collapse. Opening the show will be The Suzan.

Doors for this show open at 10pm, and you should expect the line to form at 9:30. It’s free, so don’t expect to get in unless you arrive promptly. Everyone who attends will be given a wristband for a free Spotify account.
