Mission Critical is a New York City based blog about music, culture, and life. It was founded in 2010 when I moved from Iowa City to New York and my prior home on the web, Mission Freak, was dissolved. This will now be my home for thoughts, criticisms, and posts on the things I pursue with passion: largely music, but you may also find information about literature, art, coffee, beer, media, and basketball.
Mission Critical is an attempt to distinguish this blog from my other pursuits that remain in Iowa, namely the Mission Creek Festival and Mission Freak Records. Thanks are due to my colleagues in those endeavors.
Feel free to get in touch with me by emailing todd [at] missionfreak.com. I’d love to hear from you. I do accept music for review consideration but please no attachments. Thanks.
If you own the copyright on a song posted on this site, please email and I will remove it.

Some fine folks are blogging for the excellent Iowa City magazine Little Village under the banner of Mission Freak. You can find their content here.
None of this Mission Creak/Freak/Critical stuff would be happening without the Mission Creek Music and Arts Festival in San Francisco. Make sure to check them out here.
Lastly, thanks to Chao Li for helping me get this site off the ground. You can follow her on Twitter here.
